Contrary to popular belief, Norcross is not Cross Fit at the North Pole—it’s a little city in Georgia that is a “charming antidote to modern suburbia.” Named after the fourth mayor of Atlanta Jonathan Norcross (with the unambiguous moniker "hard fighter of everything”) in 1870, this town is situated on what used to be an Indian trail called Peachtree Road and is now a modern a highway.
Just 20 miles north of Atlanta, Norcross, Georgia boasts a population of 9,116 and a place in the National Register of Historic Places for its well-preserved turn-of-the-century (last century, I’m assuming) downtown district. Pop into Antique Traditions, voted “Best Antique Shop in Gwinnett,” or if you’re in the mood for a different kind of “antique” experience, don’t miss the Netherworld Haunted House, renowned for its masterful special effects, costuming, and stunt monsters.
If you’re an “amateur antiquer” (or simply have too much stuff), then you’ll be happy to know that Norcross has several self-storage facilities so that you can keep your home, office, and car clutter free.
After you’ve done a little shopping, take in a show at Lionheart Theatre Company, an award-winning community theatre in the Metro Atlanta area, and then head over to 45 South Café, a relaxing place that sometimes has live music.
