Located in a former limestone mine 220 feet below the surface of Boyers, Pennsylvania, the Iron Mountain Underground Data Center is a heavily fortified facility used by major corporations and government agencies for data storage, digital archiving, and disaster recovery services.

The site's security is a layered defense system, starting with its natural geological protection. Being hundreds of feet underground provides a natural barrier against most physical and environmental threats, including severe weather, seismic activity, and even electromagnetic pulses (EMPs).

Access to the facility is extremely restricted. It's protected by multiple checkpoints, including a security gate staffed with armed guards, and a 20-ton steel gate that once served as a vault door. A person must pass through several security screenings, including biometric checks and metal detectors, before being allowed entry. Within the facility, separate vaults are secured with their own alarms and security measures.

Iron Mountain stores a vast amount of physical and digital data. The facility reportedly holds a wide variety of historical and valuable items, from photographs of Albert Einstein's brain to master recordings of famous musicians. It is also a designated storage site for critical government records and is known for its role in Cold War-era continuity of government plans.
